INTRODUCTION
Rangat is a 1070 sq. km. large island in Middle Andaman with pristine beaches, waterfalls, and interesting islands. The population is primarily made up of people from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Fisheries and cultivation are the two primary occupations of people in this island. Entry into Rangat is by Bus from Port Blair and by ferries from Havelock, Neil and Long Island. Therefore, tourists have to enter Andamans through Port Blair and travel to Rangat by road or sea.
How to Reach :
1.By Air :
The only commercial airport to reach Andamans is located at Port Blair, Veer Savarkar Airport, named after the famous freedom fighter Vir Savarkar who was imprisoned in this island at Cellular Jail earlier known as Kaala Paani. Direct flight to Port Blair is available from Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi. The journey usually takes around 2 Hrs 30 Mins.
2.By Sea :
The Andaman group of Islands is well connected by sea. Regular passenger services are available to Port Blair from Chennai, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam.
Chennai – Port Blair – Takes around 60 Hrs.
Kolkata – Port Blair – Takes around 66 Hrs.
Visakhapatnam – Port Blair – Takes around 56 Hrs.
Best Time to Visit :
Andaman and Nicobar Island is a year-round tourist destination. The area receives minimum fluctuations in the temperature and is always pleasant. The best time to visit Andaman and Nicobar Island is considered from November to mid-May. Monsoons are however recommended to be avoided because of the high tidal waves, incessant rains and strong winds.

Morning bus services are available between Port Blair and Rangat. The travel time is about 6-7 hours. Road to Rangat from Port Blair passes through Jarawa reserves. The bus passes through the Andaman Grand Trunc road to reach Rangat. Sea and shipping services are available for 4-5 days in a week. The travel time is about 4-5 hours. attractions at Rangat are :
Cutbert Bay Beach
is another sandy beach on the way to Cutbert Bay. This beach is ideal for swimming, sun bathing and relaxation.
Amkunj Bay beach
offer a good experience of cruising through the evergreen mangrove fringed creek, with exotic flora and fauna. These are ideal for nature lovers, bird watchers, research / education oriented tourists.
Moorys Dare
is a rocky mountainous terrain opposite to Amkunj Bay, which will perfectly suit the requirements of adventure tourists interested in trekking. The trekking spot is fantabulous.
Panchavati Hills
have a beautiful, gentle waterfall. The agricultural farm en-route housing a rich bank of vegetation is of interest to botany enthusiasts.
Long Island
off the southeast coast of Middle Andaman has a small village and several sandy beaches perfect for camping. Long Island is well connected via Govt boat with Havelock Island and Rangat Island. This island has the famous ‘Lalaji Bay’ beach, which is rated as truly world class. Long Island is a perfect destination for honeymoon and adventurous travellers. This island also offers scuba diving, snorkeling and can be booked through us.
